Stone Business Consultancy (2024- Present)- Stone Business Consultancy was established in 2024 by Broken Hill entrepreneur Dylan J. Stone to provide the kind of strategic, practical support small businesses, sole traders and startups often struggle to access. Drawing on years of experience helping business owners navigate planning, operations and growth, Dylan now supports clients across Australia — not just from behind a desk, but through free monthly workshops and regular regional visits that bring real business guidance directly to local communities. When you work with Stone Business Consultancy, you’re not just accessing advice — you’re gaining the depth of experience, insight and commitment that Dylan brings to every client partnership.
NSW Far West Small Business Association (2020-2023) and Network (2025- Present)- During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dylan Stone co-founded and chaired the NSW Far West Small Business Association and later the NSW Far West Small Business Network to strengthen advocacy and representation for regional small enterprises. The Association became a collective voice for local businesses, coordinating responses to economic challenges and contributing to initiatives that improved resilience and sustainability across the region. Key achievements included negotiating and ratifying a Model Industrial Agreement to clarify pay and conditions for small business owners, forming partnerships with groups such as the Menindee CWA and Wilcannia Tourism Association, and supporting the re-launch of community and business events post-COVID. The Association was later handed over to Broken Hill Community Inc, leaving a lasting legacy of stronger regional collaboration and business engagement. The Network, established in 2025, has evolved into a community-led business campaign designed to connect small business owners with one another while advocating for the challenges faced by small businesses across the Far West. The Network has also become an important tool to introduce local small business owners to the NSW Business Connect Program, which provides free, independent, and tailored advice to business owners from trusted business advisors and consultants.
Stone's On Argent Cafe (2018-2024)- From 2018 to 2024, Stone’s on Argent Café on Argent Street in Broken Hill became a well-loved local destination under Dylan Stone’s ownership. Known for its welcoming service, quality food and strong community presence, the café earned a reputation for great breakfasts, coffee and genuine regional hospitality. More than a place to eat, it became a space where locals and visitors connected, contributing to the vibrancy of the local economy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Stone’s on Argent played a leading role in the small business response, implementing early control measures to protect staff and customers and serving as a point of stability for the community. The café experienced no COVID outbreaks linked to the business and did not lose a single day of trade due to staffing or stock disruptions — a testament to the strength of its planning, systems and leadership.
Community Advocacy- Dylan Stone has long contributed to the community beyond his professional work. From fundraising for his local school as a student to leading community groups and associations, he has consistently supported regional voices and created opportunities for shared growth. While public speaking and fundraising efforts reflect a genuine commitment to the social and economic wellbeing of the region, his involvement in multiple leadership programs such as the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation's Drought Resilience Leadership Program and the Milparanga Established Leadership Program cemented Dylan as a truly passionate voice for the causes he represents. Furthermore, recognition through multiple awards has only reinforced Dylan’s dedication to community service — a commitment he continues through Stone Business Consultancy by providing pro-bono support, in-kind contributions and ongoing promotion of local initiatives.
